Assemblers can help to make blankets - no sewing required. We need volunteers to cut fabric, wash fabric, assemble cut fabrics and quilt squares into 'kits' for other volunteers to sew
Beginners
Beginners can help to make blankets. If you are just learning how to crochet, knit or quilt, you can help by making small blankets for infants or small pieces that will be worked into a larger blanket. We have many volunteers that work together as a team to complete one blanket.
Donate
Donate your Time and Talent! We are always looking for enthusiastic people to help out! Check out our Donation section - there are other ways to donate as well.
Crochet, Knit, Quilt
If you have the ability to crochet, knit or sew, you can help to make blankets. Check out our Projects page for blanket sizes and links to many beautiful patterns.
We are in need of many supplies to keep our sewing volunteers busy. We need yarn, quilting/sewing thread, cotton and fleece fabric, batting, etc. Check out our Wish List page or Contact us for more details.
Your Family
This is a great opportunity for your family to sponsor a charity. Make a commitment to provide a monthly donation for one year. Your name will appear on our Sponsors Page and your donation is tax deductable.
Your Employer
Many Employers have a Community Gift Fund or Donation-Matching Program that will allow employees to make a donation and the Employer will match the donation. Ask your Human Resources department to see if your Employer can become a Sponsor for the Binky Patrol!
Binky Kits
Donate a 'Binky Kit'. A 'Binky Kit' consists of a pattern and all the materials needed to create a Quilt, Knitted or Crocheted Blanket. If you donate a 'Binky Kit' we will add your name to our special Blanketeer page as a Binky Kit Designer.
Cash, Gift Certificates, etc.
Cash, Checks, and Money Orders are always welcome. You can purchase gift certificates from local Craft Stores and donate them directly to your local Binky Patrol. This will allow us to purchase fabrics and yarns in preferred colors and quantities.
Let your school, service organizations and scout troops know about the Binky Patrol. Many Junior High and High School students require community service hours. Both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts have badges and awards that scouts can earn by fulfilling community service hours. Currently, we have a local Junior/Cadette Girl Scout Troop helping us out!
Binky-Days
When fulfilling community service hours, you can commit to a few hours a week or sometimes it is easier to commit to a few full days. We have the opportunity for ambitious young people to help organize and manage our 'Binky-Days'. Binky-Days allow volunteers to come together to work on sewing, knitting or crocheting their blankets that will be donated. Contact us for more information.
If you know of a child that is in need of a Binky in the San Jose, California area, please let us know. All information is kept confidential.
Help us Organize a Fund-Raiser
There are many different ways to raise funds for our organization. What are your ideas? If you are a volunteer and a member of a scouting organization please remember that you cannot directly raise funds for other non-profit organizations, but you can volunteer your time and talents at a fund-raising event. We need lots of volunteers to help run registration booths, gather completed Binkys, etc.
Soon we will start a monthly newsletter. You can submit new patterns, a news-worthy story or a poem. Be creative!
Volunteer for a Special Job
We need people to help with administration duties, organizing Binky-Days, presenting information to service organizations, etc. If you have a special talent that you love to do, let us know! We can find the right job for you!
